Samsung Galaxy Player 70 Plus Announced [Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Player 70 Plus, Means A Dual-Core Media Player With A 5″ Display For Those In Korea]

Coming as a bit of follow-up to what we saw announced by Samsung during Mobile World Congress, it looks like they have announced another Android running portable media player. Though, unlike the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2 that we saw during MWC, this latest is Galaxy Player branded and will (at least for now) see a much more limited roll-out.

That being said, the latest device is the Samsung Galaxy Player 70 Plus. And despite the initial reaction to think that the 70 would imply a 7 inch display, the Galaxy Player 70 Plus will arrive sporting a 5-inch display. Other specs will include a dual-core 1GHz processor, 2500 mAh battery and a 5 megapixel rear facing camera.

In terms of storage, the Galaxy Player 70 Plus will have options for 16GB or 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for anything additional. And for the part that will give a clue as to where this device will be available the Galaxy Player 70 Plus will have support for DMB TV. In other words, expect this one to be available in Korea.

Otherwise, for those who happen to be in Korea wondering the price expect to pay 399,000 or 469,000 won for the 16GB or 32GB model respectively. And just to make the comparison, those price translate to roughly $355 and $420 in terms of US dollars.

Bottom line, while it would be nice to see the Galaxy Player 70 Plus come available around the globe, it looks fairly similar to the 5-inch Galaxy Player that came available last October. Just to recap, that player was running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and powered by a single-core 1GHz processor. That being said, given the specs of the previous model and what most would be using it for we suspect that majority of the users would be able to get by just fine with a single-core processor.
